Each active permit scores its impact multiplied by how long it runs. Impact: full closure or emergency ×3, multi-way signals, lane closure or major works ×2, minor and give-and-take ×1. Duration runs from ×1 (a day or less) to ×3 (eight weeks or more).

What counts as one road

Permits are clustered by proximity within a road name and authority. A county council has dozens of High Streets; without clustering they rank as a single road, which they are not. Stretches more than 2km apart are treated as separate roads.

Data freshness

Recomputed every 6 hours from the live Street Manager feed. The ticker at the top of the page is amber when we have fresh data.

What gets in

Only roads currently inside an active permit window, with at least 3 concurrent permits. No authority may take more than 2 of the ten places, so the table shows the worst roads rather than the busiest council. JSON feed.
